The unique acting technique Commedia dell’Arte is a theatrical
tradition born during Renaissance in Italy, characterized by mask
work, fixedcharacter types, improvisation, and multilingualism.
This vibrant art form has inspired some of the greatest masters
of theatre and remains a powerful training ground for today’s actors.
In this workshop, we will explore the fundamental principles of
Commedia dell’Arte: working with leather masks, embodying its
iconic characters—such as Arlecchino, Pantalone, Colombina,
Balanzone, and Il Capitano— and developing physicality, spatial
awareness, and improvisational skills. Through games and specific
exercises, we’ll dive into its unique techniques, uncovering
tools that can enrich and enhance performance in any theatrical style.
